About

Sophia Zey is a pianist and soprano who lives in Overland Park, KS.  She recently attended Aspen Music Festival as a Fellowship Opera Coach for the Aspen Opera Center, where she coached students from all over the world with a focus on French diction and Berlioz’ opera Béatrice et Bénédict. She also played for weekly masterclasses and occasional evening parties in Aspen, CO.  As a soprano, she recently performed the roles of “Flora” (UMKC Turn of the Screw), “Papagena” (UMKC Magic Flute), and “Nella” (Luther College Gianni Schicchi).  She won the Distinction in Accompaniment Award and Competition from Luther College.

She holds a B.A. Music Performance from Luther College, and a M.M. Vocal Performance from the University of Kansas City-Missouri’s Conservatory of Music and Dance.  She is currently freelancing in the Kansas City metropolitan area as a pianist and soprano, as well as teaching at a music school and modelling with Voices&.
